Procedure For Asbestos Removal

1. Asbestos Inspection & Testing

Icon Restoration will provide asbestos testing and inspection for all homeowners and business owners. The asbestos sample is sent to a laboratory for testing, and the results are given to the customer within 48 hours. IICRC-certified professionals with years of experience in asbestos removal and cleanup conduct asbestos testing and inspection.

2. Scope of Work

The asbestos inspector will create a scope of work and criteria that we must strictly follow. The scope of work is determined by what they discovered during the initial inspection and asbestos testing. The scope of work is tailored to your unique situation and is determined by a number of factors, including:

  • Type of asbestos materials
  • Level of asbestos  found in the materials
  • How big of an area has asbestos
  • Type of building
  • Access to windows and outside

3. Asbestos Containment and Equipment Setup

Icon Restoration will put up all necessary containment based on the scope of work established individually for your case. Based on the scope of work, the appropriate number of negative air machines/air scrubbing machines (with HEPA filtering systems) is required. These machines will not only properly clean and filter the air throughout the asbestos removal process, but they will also provide the negative pressure that is required to prevent cross contamination. Throughout the asbestos removal procedure, only our asbestos professionals will have access to any of the containment areas, ensuring everyone’s health and safety and preventing cross contamination.

4. Asbestos Removal Process

Icon Restoration’s trained and certified technicians are equipped with protective suits, shoe covers, full face respirators, and double gloves. Wet asbestos materials and debris are placed in 6mm poly “asbestos caution” bags and sealed right away. All garbage is removed from the premises in a safe and conscientious way, and asbestos items are disposed of at the right facilities.

5. Cleaning

We utilize a combination of wet mops, sponges, and rags to clean and ensure that all asbestos fibers/dust are effectively removed (all of which we do not reuse, they are disposed of after each job). and HEPA vacuums. Before leaving the containment areas, all tools, materials, and vacuums are cleaned, bagged, and sealed.

6. Removal of contaminants

Only once asbestos removal approval has been acquired, are contaminants and barricades removed.
